Recently I had a really cool experience! The world’s leading Social Media Management company – Hootsuite – invited me to their HQ and interviewed me because they identified me as a valuable user of Hootsuite and they wanted to get my feedback on some exciting updates and improvements for the iPhone app! I use Hootsuite a lot to manage my Twitter feed and tweets to promote my Amazon books. Large companies and business schools use Hootsuite. Check out their products and services (I use the free version) here: www.hootsuite.com.

The E-mail Invitation for the Hootsuite Interview
One day out of the blue I got an e-mail from Heather of Hootsuite. In her e-mail she wrote:
We identified you as a valuable mobile user of Hootsuite and would love to get your feedback on some exciting updates and improvements for the iPhone app! We are revamping our message composing experience and we think you will love it.
If you can participate in an informal in-person interview at Hootsuite’s office in Vancouver (5 East 8th Avenue)…this session will take approx. 1 – 1.5 hrs.
When I first saw the e-mail, I thought it was spam. I Googled the address and confirmed the address was genuine. So I decided to accept the interview.
Why I love Hootsuite
I rely on Hootsuite extensively to schedule my tweets in advance. Since it’s currently tax season for an accountant like me, I scheduled all my future tweets from January to June 2016 all in one sitting back in December 2015. The tweets are scheduled to post at twice a day, four times a week without me needing to do anything for the next 6 months. It’s wonderful!

The Hootsuite Interview
It was so cool to visit the Headquarters of the start-up tech company located in Vancouver, Canada!! Founded in 2008 by entrepreneur Ryan Holmes, Hootsuite is now the preferred social media management platform used by large organizations all over the world to manage their Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
When I walked into the Hootsuite HQ, I was greeted by friendly receptionists. One of them asked me to sign in…not on paper, but on an iPad! I filled in my information and signed with my finger on the iPad. Really cool.
I had a chance to try out their coffee machine in the lobby before my interviewer Heather greeted me. She gave me a tour around the Hootsuite HQ and there were creative drawings on the walls, high tech computer equipment, and lots of computer wizards and techies.
After the tour, we sat down for the interview. Heather gave me an iPhone and let me try the new Hootsuite app prototype, and it was awesome!! She asked me questions about the user interface, the design, the degree of intuitiveness, and for honest feedback. The new app has a lot of cool features that the current app doesn’t have!
The Hootsuite Headquarters
The Hootsuite HQ was really cool. The building was formerly the headquarters of the Vancouver Police Department, and Hootsuite inherited the bullet-proof windows from the VPD!! The walls had really cool drawings (see picture of the surf boards drawings on the wall), as well as having tree stumps as chairs (first time I’ve seen anything like it!)
