We all have fears. Fear is designed to be a mechanism to protect us. It prevents us from doing dangerous things that harm our physical or mental being. However, if we let fear drive our lives, we live miserable lives.

Many people are driven by fear. They go to work because they fear being fired. They do something their spouse tells them to because they fear an argument. They conform to society because they fear being laughed at or ridiculed.

Today I want to talk about fear of starting out, fear of starting something new. The human mind likes comfort, it relishes in familiarity. It doesn’t like to step out of its comfort zone.
What this means is that if we let our unconscious mind take over, we let fear control our lives. You need to consciously make a decision to overcome that fear, which is not an easy task especially if you’ve been living a life in fear for a long time.
Fortunately, it is possible to break out of that fear prison. In fact, it gets easier each time you step out of fear.
Here’s an analogy. If you’re overweight and haven’t done exercise in years, when you start exercising with the goal of getting fit it’s going to take a lot of effort upfront.
However, once you start getting into shape, it gets easier and easier to exercise.
Your breathing becomes more natural
Your muscles respond faster
You have more self-confidence.

Overcoming fear is the same. Once you get into the habit of ignoring your fear and stepping out of your comfort zone,
You will have experience to draw upon overcoming fear
You will draw upon previous confidence that you can overcome fear again
You can build upon previous success against fear
